About the role
- Define and lead the PR and influencer communications strategy across Fanatics Markets, aligning messaging with FBG’s broader brand, growth, and regulatory objectives.
- Serve as a communications advisor to cross-functional leaders, providing counsel on narrative development and external visibility.
- Build and maintain relationships with top-tier media across crypto, prediction markets, sports, gaming, and lifestyle/entertainment.
- Identify and secure high-impact media and influencer opportunities that advance the company narrative and business priorities.
- Ensure messaging consistency across external PR, influencer activations, and internal communications.
- Oversee crisis and issues management, including drafting statements, preparing executives, and coordinating responses.
- Partner closely with Marketing, Legal, and other key functions to align communication efforts with business objectives.
- Define KPIs and reporting frameworks to measure the effectiveness of PR and influencer strategies across markets.
- Monitor and interpret cultural, sports, entertainment, music, and internet trends to proactively identify moments where Fanatics Markets can authentically show up in earned media and creator conversations.
- Operate at the intersection of PR and influencer strategy, recognizing when a moment calls for traditional media, talent partnerships, or a blended approach.
- Act quickly on real-time opportunities, from breaking sports moments to internet discourse, while exercising strong judgment in a regulated environment.
- Build foundational communications infrastructure from the ground up, including messaging, media strategy, and creator frameworks, with a startup mindset.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in PR or communications preferably within high-growth tech, crypto, gaming or other regulated industries.
- Proven experience leading media relations, executive visibility, influencer-adjacent PR, and issues/crisis management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity, shifting priorities, and high-stakes communications in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated fluency in sports, entertainment, music, and internet culture, with strong instincts for what will resonate and what won’t in the current media landscape.
- Experience building or scaling communications for a new product, category, or brand, where frameworks were created rather than inherited.
- Experience working cross-functionally and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Self-starter with strong judgment and executive presence.
- Open to regular travel to events and other Fanatics offices for various offsite and team meetings.
