About the role
- Lead and mentor a team of firmware engineers
- Drive quarterly and annual planning
- Establish standards for secure boot, code-signing, and vulnerability remediation
- Make pragmatic architecture choices for bootloaders and embedded Linux components
- Define automated build, test, and validation for firmware
- Partner with MFG and Global Services to define updates strategies
- Collaborate with various teams to align requirements
- Define telemetry, detection, and recovery strategies for firmware integrity
- Plan capacity, skill mix, and external partnerships
- Communicate status, risks, and decisions to leadership
Requirements
- 6+ years in embedded/firmware engineering
- 2-3+ years managing or leading a technical team
- Proven experience with UEFI BIOS
- Deep knowledge of OpenBMC, IPMI, or Redfish
- Hands-on experience with C/C++ and low-level debugging
- Strong background in implementing security protocols and secure boot mechanisms
- Strong understanding of buses/protocols and memory/storage
- Proficiency with tools such as Git, GDB and JTAG
- Experience shipping products at scale and owning release management
- Developed strategies for testing and resolving firmware issues across development and production
- Experience with Arm/x86 platforms, embedded Linux, secure elements, and measured boot pipelines
- Prior work with factory programming, golden image workflows, and recovery strategies
- Familiarity with compliance and security standards
