About the role
- Lead and oversee all inbound and outbound logistics activities for the Fresh Seafood division, including temperature-controlled transportation and cold storage
- Supervise and provide direction on inbound and outbound shipment coordination to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective movement of goods
- Develop and execute logistics strategies that support divisional growth, service excellence, and cost optimization
- Negotiate freight rates and service agreements with carriers, brokers, and service providers
- Manage and evaluate vendor performance, ensuring service levels, cost targets, and contractual obligations are met
- Establish and track all vendor and customer credits, ensuring proper documentation, reconciliation, and timely resolution
- Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time, confirming all required freight and customs documentation is complete and compliant
- Collaborate with customs brokers to ensure imported goods are cleared in a timely and cost-effective manner, minimizing delays and demurrage
- Establish, track, and report on logistics KPIs including on-time delivery, freight cost, claims, inventory accuracy, credits, and warehouse utilization
- Oversee order fulfillment processes from allocation through final delivery, ensuring customer requirements are met
- Lead resolution of transportation, warehouse, marine, and customs-related claims in collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders
- Partner closely with Sales and Procurement to anticipate volume fluctuations, import schedules, and capacity requirements
- Ensure compliance with domestic and international transportation regulations, customs requirements, and cold chain standards
- Develop and mentor the Administrative Assistants team, setting clear performance expectations and driving accountability
- Prepare and present logistics performance reports, credit summaries, and cost analyses to senior leadership
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service levels, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive logistics experience in food or temperature-controlled environments
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience
- Strong negotiation experience with carriers
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, KPIs, and vendor performance
- Experience in cold chain logistics, seafood or perishable products is preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with ERP systems and transportation management systems
