About the role
- Part of the Transportation electrical team of the Building sector
- Participate in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor
- Develop and prepare detailed designs for transportation electrical systems using AutoCAD and/or Microstation
- Conduct detailed calculations such as voltage drop, photometrics, conductor and conduit sizing, and grounding to ensure designs meet relevant engineering standards and applicable codes
- Perform complete lighting analysis using AGi32
- Develop traffic signal design and layouts
- Design electrical layouts for cable raceways/underground conduits, lighting, panel schedules, lighting poles and base details, luminaire schedule, electrical grounding
- Prepare contract documents, including specifications and cost estimates
- Perform site visits and contract administration
Requirements
- An Engineering degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited University
- Minimum of (2) years continuous experience in detailed design and design consultancy
- Knowledge of IES-RP-8 and Roadway lighting and Parking lot lighting
- Previous experience in Transportation and Transit projects (required)
- Experience with advanced lighting design tools (AGi32 and Autolux)
- Knowledge of various municipal and MTO lighting and traffic signal design standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation and SPIDACalc
- Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards (OESC, CSA, OBC, NFPA, AREMA and IEEE)
- RAQS certification would be considered an asset
