About the role

  • Own the Close: Lead the end-to-end month, quarter, and year-end close processes, ensuring the delivery of accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements on a timely basis.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Drive the monthly fluctuation analysis by vendor, department, and GL account; provide executive-level insights into business trends, accrual accuracy, and OpEx performance.
  • Team Management: Direct, mentor, and review the work of a growing accounting team (initially 2–3 staff members), fostering a culture of high performance and professional growth.
  • Technical Accounting & Policy: Partner with the Controller and external consultants to operationalize complex policies (ASC 606, 326, 842, and 718) and establish foundational SOPs for T&E, Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses, Accruals, Sales Tax, and Revenue Reconciliation.
  • System & Integration Optimization: Serve as the functional accounting lead for our tech stack (e.g., Ramp, QBO, Subscript), driving automation and integrations to reduce time to close while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Operational Architecture: Design and implement internal controls and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that ensure the accounting function can scale with company growth.
  • Process Oversight: Supervise sub-ledger processes, including payroll, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and vendor coding, to ensure data integrity and minimize reporting errors.
  • Audit Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors; own the PBC list, manage timelines, and ensure a rigorous, clean audit trail.
  • Tax Administration: Create and oversee the Company’s Tax Calendar to ensure the timely filing of Sales, Property, Income, and Franchise taxes; review monthly sales-tax filings for state-level compliance.
  • Strategic Transitions: Partner cross-functionally with RevOps to lead the mid-term transition of the end-to-end sales commission process into the Finance organization.
