Systems Engineer

Principal Systems Designer

• Collaborate closely with the Game Director, Design Director, and the Systems Design Lead to drive the vision for the major systems and systems balancing for a robust online multiplayer experience.
• Create expert-level creative vision and technical guidance for our metagame experience, to include matchmaking systems, ELO algorithms and theories, skills systems, currencies and economy, and weapon/ability balancing.
• Advocate for the player at all times, putting the player experience first when considering and making all design decisions.

• As a Gameplay Engineer, you will work closely with Design, Animation, and Audio to create new gameplay experiences and take ownership over large gameplay features. • **What we are looking for:**
• - Drive the vision for UI Art on Escape Velocity’s projects by embracing the art style and direction defined by the Art Directors and using the art style guide as the backdrop to create UI that is both in alignment with UX’s wireframes and is thematically perfect to the art style.
• - Collaborate with UX, the Art Directors, and the Game Director to pitch your vision, before doing some of your own strong implementation against that plan.
• - Effectively plan and communicate work, ensuring realistic goals and dependencies.

• - **Deliver on the Creative Vision for the Game.** You will direct and guide designers in all areas of design, including systems, gameplay, and level design; and collaborate with other Directors, Leads, and individual contributors to ensure that the game vision is realized in software at the highest quality.
• - **Drive Quality with Urgency.** You will lead the design team to introduce features and content to players as efficiently and quickly as possible. You will drive decisions and critically and ruthlessly evaluate all aspects of the game design – from moment-to-moment gameplay to meta progression – to ensure that we achieve quality while still delivering on other commitments and deadlines.
• - **Unify, motivate, mentor, and manage designers. **You will directly manage design leads, and serve as a mentor and leader to all designers and many others on the team. • The Senior Game Development Engineer, Automation Systems is responsible for improving and sustaining the overall health, reliability, and scalability of the game’s development process. This role bridges gameplay engineering, design, art, debug engineering, QA, and build/release — by engineering solutions and ensuring that development is fast, stable, and confidence-driven.
• This engineer will architect, implement, and evolve systems that support automation, validation, and testing across Unreal workflows. They will produce and maintain automated tests and validation frameworks, ensure results are visible and actionable across teams, and help train others to adopt forward-thinking, test-driven development practices.
• The role requires a self-directed senior engineer capable of taking high-level objectives, translating them into actionable solutions, and building trust through consistent delivery. Over time, this position will serve as a long-term steward of development health, guiding systems maturity, technical accountability, and cultural best practices for sustainable, high-quality production.

Senior Game Development Engineer, Automation Systems

• Create compelling pitches including rough concepts for individual cosmetics and campaigns
• Stay informed about visual trends or styles in gaming and pop culture
• Provide feedback and guide other concept artists and outsourcing teams in executing designs

• Work with art and engineering to understand visual requirements and performance constraints.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain advanced materials and shaders using Unreal Engine
• Create reusable material functions and dynamic systems to support a wide range of surface types (environment, characters, VFX).
• Research and prototype new shading techniques to push visual quality and efficiency.

Outsourcing Technical Artist

• **What we are looking for:**
• We are seeking an Outsource Character Artist to collaborate closely with both internal and external teams on Character Assets for Cosmetics. In this role, you will work with the producer on scheduling, coordinate with the internal development team to meet project needs and manage the delivery of assets from external vendors. The candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for external partners and must be extremely nimble, with strong organizational skills and flexibility to adapt to varying time schedules, evolving project needs, and non-traditional hours across different time zones. While the role includes managerial responsibilities, it is also hands-on, involving the intake and assessment of assets to ensure they meet the required standards. Additionally, you will provide valuable feedback on art assets from outsource to maintain quality and consistency throughout the project.

• - Grow, then lead a formidable team of metagame/systems designers to assist you with the implementation of these major systems, and work closely with the game’s user experience, level, gameplay, and content teams to ensure a cohesive player experience.
