About the role
- Own Expense Accounting: Manage monthly expense recognition for assigned brand(s), including proper classification, accruals, and deferrals, using system controls and automation to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Ensure GAAP Compliance: Record expenses in the appropriate accounting period in compliance with U.S. GAAP, applying sound judgment and data validation practices.
- Manage Fixed Assets & Intangibles: Record fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, and amortization of intangible assets, leveraging accounting system workflows to streamline processes.
- Reconcile Intercompany Activity: Balance and reconcile intercompany accounts monthly, identifying discrepancies and using data analysis to drive timely resolution.
- Prepare Journal Entries: Prepare and post general ledger journal entries with clear, complete supporting documentation, ensuring audit readiness and transparency.
- Perform Account Reconciliations: Complete balance sheet reconciliations for prepaids, accrued expenses, accounts payable, credit cards, intercompany, fixed assets, and intangible assets, using reconciliations as a diagnostic tool to surface trends and risks.
- Analyze Expense Variances: Perform period‑over‑period expense analysis and provide clear, logical explanations for fluctuations, using data and reporting tools to generate actionable insights.
- Support Reporting & Analysis: Maintain accurate financial records and provide detailed support for ad hoc analysis, management reporting, and business decision‑making.
- Support Audit & Special Projects: Assist with the annual audit by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries; participate in special projects that improve processes, systems, or scalability.
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Partner with peers to enhance accounting workflows, including the thoughtful adoption of automation, AI‑enabled tools, and best practices as the business evolves.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or a related field
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles
- SaaS industry experience preferred
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis techniques
- Working knowledge of Workday or similar modern accounting systems
- Comfort working with automated and AI‑assisted accounting tools for reconciliations, reporting, or variance analysis
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and follow tasks through to resolution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial information to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive insights, identify risks, and improve processes
- Proven ability to work effectively with both executives and peers in a collaborative environment
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and motivated to work in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment
