About the role
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Process monthly journal entries, including corporate allocations and accruals, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger
- Perform monthly/quarterly budget vs actual and month-over-month variance analytics, monitor expenses, and assist with providing financial insights to support decision-making by management
- Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliations and other supporting schedules in accordance with SOX requirements
- Collaborate with Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy team to record journal entries related to significant non-routine transactions
- Record monthly corporate credit card expenses
- Review entries and workpapers for accuracy and appropriate documentation, and investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with annual budget and quarterly reforecast process, through data entry and analysis
- Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries to support quarterly and annual audit requests
- Record transactions, prepare financial statements and investor reporting packages for certain managed assets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Accounts Payable, Marketing, Legal, and IT, to ensure timely submission of information and adherence to monthly and quarterly deadlines
Requirements
- Knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting principles, with hands-on experience in monthly and quarterly close processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate) and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Effective communicator (written and oral) who can present financial information clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive work environment
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain well-documented workpapers and reconciliations
- Commitment to continuous improvement, process efficiency, and upholding internal controls
- Experience with Yardi preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
- 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a combination of both
- Big 4 audit experience and/or public REIT experience preferred
