Perform a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.
Set up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.
Participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.
Maintain records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.
Compile data and record results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations.
Assist lab personnel with analyzing biological data and performing basic biochemical experiments (cell culture, PCR, DNA/protein gels).
Attend group meetings and present literature and experiences.
Perform related responsibilities as required by principal investigator; follow safety precautions and possible immunization requirements when working with hazardous agents.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Preferred: experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Structural Biology in the research laboratory.
Experience assisting lab personnel with analyzing biological data and performing basic biochemical experiments.
Hands-on skills: cell culture; running PCR; DNA and protein gels.
Ability to attend group meetings and present literature and experiences.
Able to maintain records, files and logs in laboratory notebooks and computer databases; compile data for publications, grants and seminars.
May be required to work with potentially hazardous agents and to take specific precautions or be immunized.
