Recruit, onboard, schedule, and manage Carter Center volunteers, including docent program development and training.
Act as curator and registrar for The Carter Center's art collection: accessioning, installation, condition reports, conservation, approved loans, insurance, and collections database management.
Plan, administer, and monitor volunteer and art department budgets; ensure timesheets, invoices, and expenses are tracked in Unit 4.
Maintain communications with staff, volunteers, community organizations, appraisers, conservators, museum curators, donors, and the public; publish newsletters and materials.
Collaborate with the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum and departments across the Center to coordinate art curation and volunteer support; work closely with Events Services.
Maintain accurate records of volunteer services and art holdings; run reports for appraisals, insurance, audit, inventory, and donative purposes.
Develop and implement volunteer recruitment activities and position descriptions; coordinate landscape volunteer group and expand volunteer program as needed.
Guide or assign tours and represent the Center in public speaking engagements.
Supervise part-time office assistant(s), art interns, volunteer corps, and vendors; resolve conflicts and oversee volunteer recognition and special events coverage.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and promote professional development for self and department.
Requirements
A bachelor's degree in art history, museum studies, or related liberal arts field and six years of related experience working in a volunteer organization OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Prior experience working with The Carter Center or strong familiarity with its mission, programs, and values (preferred).
Knowledge of art databases, CRM databases.
Experience training volunteers and developing docent programs.
Experience managing and curating art collections, including collections management software, conservation, accessioning, condition reports, approved loans, insurance, and database management.
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate special events.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience using or ensuring tracking in accounting software (Unit 4) for timesheets, invoices, and expenses.
Experience supervising staff, interns, vendors, and large volunteer corps (90-130 volunteers annually).
Ability to guide tours and participate in public speaking engagements.
