About the role

  • Reviews, drafts and negotiates agreements and transaction documents in compliance with applicable policies and legal and ethical standards, under the supervision of more senior Contract Services staff
  • Responding, within established guidelines, to customers’ RFP/RFQs, vendor qualification documents and contractual requests
  • Drafting and negotiating with customers, appropriate contractual language to reflect the business interests and policies of the parties
  • Supports more senior Contract Services staff on less complex international and multi-BU project contracts and frame agreements
  • Participates in the approval process to assist business owners in making informed decisions and secure appropriate approvals
  • Collaborate with customers, members of the legal team and other Emerson collaborators to bring deals to closure
  • Analyses business, financial, and legal risks with supervision
  • Researches information on existing agreements and contractual programs, assisting with analysis and compiling data for reports
  • Provides contract-related mentorship, with supervision, to Sales, Project Management and other collaborators
  • Legal research
  • Provides legal advice and interpretation of legal matters, including the application of law
  • Prepares materials as vital for outside counsel on routine matters.

Requirements

  • Law Degree
  • 0-2+ years of work experience in a contract-related role
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States
  • Familiar with commercial provisions such as warranty, liquidated damages/penalties, payment & freight terms, documentary credits and bank guarantees/sureties
  • Comfortable working with senior management
  • Intermediate MS Office skills
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of Contract law & principles
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
