About the role
- Work collaboratively with business unit(s) and world area(s) to develop and implement processes, policies and training as needed, based on product cybersecurity and other legal and regulatory requirements, industry standards and best practices
- Monitor, analyze, and advise on laws and regulations involving global technology and cybersecurity (including industry standards, such as ISO, NIST, etc.) developments that may affect Emerson and adjust program requirements as needed in conjunction with other Regulatory Compliance and Information Governance team members
- Provide counseling and guidance to Product Management and Engineering teams, with a focus on compliance and governance, on cybersecurity risks related to new and existing products and services throughout the product lifecycle, including vulnerability and incident management
- Manage and support legal aspects of product related cybersecurity and technology law escalations from business unit(s) and world area(s)
- Exercise good professional judgment, act with integrity, and drive results at all times to protect and enhance the image of the law department and company
- Support the legal team in implementing corporate policy throughout all divisions and strategic projects in different areas
- Coordinate responses to data protection/digital products and services related inquiries (e.g. regulatory inquiries, incident response, data subject requests, customer questionnaires)
- Monitor activities to ensure compliance with internal policies, standards, processes and procedures
- Collaborate effectively within the Product Security and Compliance team, various Engineering and IT stakeholders, as well as other internal/external partners to build relationships supporting accountabilities
- Communicate complex information, concepts, and metrics in a confident and well-organized manner through verbal, written, and visual means and tailored to the audience
- Proficient understanding of business focus and processes, with the ability to integrate cybersecurity compliance into the business through effective teamwork and influence
- Ability to maintain a high level of integrity, trustworthiness, and confidence in representing the company and security leadership with the highest level of professionalism
- Identify and advance strategic continuous improvement opportunities and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- 4-7 years of relevant work experience in a commercial and international field (in-house or private practice, preferably in cybersecurity related field or compliance focus)
- Licensed to practice law in good standing with a US state bar
- Law Degree from an accredited law school
- Comfortable working with senior management
- Intermediate MS Office skill
- Excellent oral and written English language skills
- Openness to travel
- Solution finding, practical with strong business acumen, able to weigh and take reasonable risks
- Self-motivated and keen on getting involved in and exposed to a variety of legal matters and business areas.
