About the role
- Lead identification of applicable Engineering Design Standards, Functional Standards, Engineering Specifications and Regulatory requirements
- Be responsible for the overall design delivery for capital project(s) and coordinate all design for the Project Manager during all design phases
- Deliver conceptual design review and basic design review and direct development of design requirements
- Assist in development and maintenance of the design schedule and participate in selection of A/E firms
- Coordinate with A/E firms to develop earned value progress systems and expedite design decisions
- Ensure design meets approved intent through interactions among design firm, design specialists, engineering tech center disciplines, and end users
- Resolve design-related problems, examine inefficiencies and develop strategies to meet or improve design hours plan
- Assist in development of SOPs, project delivery work instructions, and best practices related to design/verification
- Review and approve key design project personnel and design-related invoices; participate in KPI reviews
- Accountable for development of Project Verification Plan, Traceability Matrix, and risk assessments; coordinate verification and discrepancy tracking during verification phase
Requirements
- BS in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
- Minimum of 5-years manufacturing and/or engineering experience in support of pharmaceutical or API networks
- Pharmaceutical process or project engineer experience (preferred)
- Strong project management skills (preferred)
- Ability to effectively facilitate conflict to resolution (preferred)
- Ability to influence all levels of the project and site personnel (preferred)
- Understanding of the capital project delivery process, A/E design activities, and Lilly technical resources (preferred)
- Demonstrated values consistent with the Lilly values (preferred)
- Ability to frame complex decisions/analyses, facilitate to a decision, and implement according to the plan (preferred)
- Ability to create credibility and influence to align decision agreements among stakeholders (preferred)
- Experience facilitating issue resolution, anticipating scope changes, and implementing projects safely with quality, speed and value (preferred)
- Willingness to relocate and/or travel domestically and internationally (on average about 25%) and ability to work from long distances with little supervision
