About the role
- Administer the workers' compensation program, including claim initiation, documentation, and follow-up
- Collaborate with employees, managers, and insurance providers to facilitate timely claims processing
- Monitor and report on workers' compensation claims trends and outcomes
- Manage the leaves of absence process, including FMLA, ADA, and other applicable leave policies
- Provide guidance to employees regarding their rights and responsibilities related to leaves of absence
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting of leave requests and approvals
- Assess and process requests for reasonable accommodations in accordance with ADA and company policies
- Work with employees and management to identify appropriate accommodations that support employee needs while maintaining operational efficiency
- Maintain documentation and track accommodation requests and outcomes
- Partner with the Health & Safety team to ensure a safe work environment and compliance with safety regulations
- Provide training and resources to HR staff and management on workers' compensation, leaves of absence, and accommodation policies
- Respond to employees seeking assistance with US benefit questions, in particular workers' compensation, leave, or accommodation inquiries
- Assist in open enrollment including creation of materials, conducting training and ensuring system accuracy
- Provide back up support with carrier file feeds and questions
- Coordinate with payroll on employee’s pay during leave of absence
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations related to benefit regulations
- Prepare and maintain reports on claims, leaves, and accommodations for management review
- Conduct audits and compliance reviews
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in HR, specifically in workers' compensation, leaves of absence, or accommodations
- Specific experience working with the states with disability and parental leave programs, like California, Colorado and Washington
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to workers' compensation, FMLA, ADA, and related laws
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
