About the role

  • Conduct on-site visits at active work sites in Quebec to support and coach employees and subcontractors in applying health and safety requirements, whether they are legal obligations or EDFR requirements.
  • Identify systemic trends that affect the organization.
  • Work closely with operations managers to determine priorities and communicate findings from site visits.
  • Develop strategies for appropriate corrective actions.
  • Serve as a health and safety subject-matter expert, providing high-level professional advice to field teams.
  • Provide technical guidance on procedures and processes to ensure the safety of contractors and employees and compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Develop, review, analyze, report on, and communicate HSES metrics and trends to the Senior HSES Manager and HSES Operations Managers.
  • Support ongoing projects led by the Canada HSES team related to program development and implementation.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in health and safety or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of practical hands-on experience in health and safety
  • Experience in wind farm operations is an asset
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the applicable health and safety legal requirements for Quebec
  • Knowledge of wind farm operations is an asset
  • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability to operational needs, and a collaborative mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to build stakeholder buy-in
  • Be autonomous and proactive
  • Ability to prepare technical-level reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all operational levels of the organization as well as with vendors and clients, exercising the tact and diplomacy necessary to achieve objectives
  • Must be able to present a wide range of HSES topics to large groups
  • Ability to research complex topics and distill information into a usable format
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and possess a good driving record
  • Proficient with Microsoft software, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint (Office suite)
  • Must be able to participate in ongoing training required to perform the duties
  • English is an asset
