About the role

  • Responsible for the planning, management, and execution of multiple large-scale capital projects throughout the Corporation.
  • Leads a team of project managers, supervisors, contractors, and administrative and engineering support personnel in construction activities for multiple intermediate to large-sized capital projects.
  • Manages a portfolio team consisting of project managers, project engineers, construction managers, schedulers, and estimators.
  • Negotiates complex construction and physical plant-related contracts with large vendors.
  • Provides support to senior management in the formulation of strategic planning.
  • Responsible for delivering major capital construction projects, without interruption to the Company’s operations.
  • Provides regular progress reports for all construction projects, highlighting key performance indicators, risk management, delays and claims.
  • Analyzes organizational capability in relation to Company-determined project management standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience managing projects using formal project management tools such as Schedule Management, Cost Management, Risk Management etc.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business and 8 years of experience managing projects using formal project management tools such as Schedule Management, Cost Management, Risk Management etc.
  • PMP required or must obtain within one-year of entry into the position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or Business and formal leadership experience.
  • Consulting and influencing skills.
  • Written and verbal communication and advocacy skills.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced analytical and project management skills.
  • Ability to develop / coordinate cross-functional work groups and projects.
  • Working knowledge of financial and economic analysis, project and risk management.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and develop optimal recommendations and solutions.
  • Ability to apply project planning and implementation and/or continuous improvement principles.
  • Motivates through ‘leading by example,’ coaching/mentoring and providing ongoing constructive feedback to subordinate staff.
  • Ability to conduct efficacious meetings.
