About the role
- Identify, manage, direct, and audit systems required to limit risk factors leading to safety incidents and compliance issues
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and corporate safety regulations
- Promote health and safety responsibility / sustainability stewardship by engaging with employees
- Analyze injury / incident data for trends
- Investigate issues and recommend improvements
- Responsible for site security
Requirements
- B.S. in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, or Environmental Health and Safety
- Minimum of seven (7) years of safety and environmental leadership experience in an industrial setting; preferably in pulp & paper industry
- Demonstrated safety and environmental leadership with results
- Thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and Workers’ Compensation regulations
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient planning and organization skills
- High degree of computer literacy to include MS Office
- Ability to write regulatory reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
