About the role

  • Reporting to the Director of Paper Machine Operations, you will be responsible for managing safety, environmental performance, quality, productivity, talent and costs for the paper machines area.
  • You will play an active role in supervising, coaching and troubleshooting within your work team.
  • You will collaborate with team members to determine actions required to improve plant culture and performance.
  • Actively manage and develop your team to achieve department objectives;
  • Promote workplace health and safety awareness through various interventions, communications or targeted training programs;
  • Work closely with other operations departments, maintenance and support services to deliver on plant priorities;
  • Work in close cooperation with paper machine and pulp preparation employees;
  • Ensure enforcement of plant rules, health and safety standards, the collective bargaining agreement and environmental and quality standards;
  • Place a high level of importance on reliability, including planning, scheduling and condition monitoring;
  • Use continuous improvement principles to resolve issues related to health and safety, environment, quality, production and cost reduction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering or another relevant field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the pulp and paper industry or in a unionized manufacturing environment;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ management experience;
  • Ability to engage and mobilize employees and collaborators to achieve objectives;
  • Strong capacity to learn and adapt quickly in a constantly changing environment;
  • Good communication skills and fluency in French and English (spoken and written).
