About the role

  • Deliver input to the country strategy and business plan from a legal and compliance perspective, analyse and screen on legal and compliance opportunities and threats and advise on improvement.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of (parts of) legal policies, procedures, processes and tools for legal areas of competence, taking into account international and/or local regulations, professional standards and specifics of the business.
  • Contribute to the development of customer and/or partner agreements and advise on legal matters and execute legal activities on behalf of management and other relevant third parties.
  • Liaise with legal counsels on functional expertise within DLL, contribute to the selection and instruct and coordinate the activities of international or local external lawyers and/or law firms for specified assignments, including budget and legal cost control.
  • Exchange and share legal and compliance knowledge, contribute to legal network(s), proactively inform management about legal and compliance developments and coach less senior legal counsels in professional development.
  • Independently drafting various types of financial and other agreements and related documents, both within our standard and non-standard business.
  • Making legal risk assessments and issuing internal legal opinions.
  • Negotiating and drafting partner agreements and develop financial products and offerings in close cooperation with our business units.
  • Assessing programs, processes, procedures, structures, products and services from a legal point of view and continuously monitor and advise on optimisation concerning processes and services, liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively researching and analysing legal developments, taking an active role in your own professional development and that of the legal team.

Requirements

  • You are a qualified solicitor to practice within England and Wales
  • At least 7 years’ experience working at law firms and/or as in-house counsel in a commercial environment.
  • Solid experience within the financial sector, particularly leasing, is mandatory.
  • Your strengths include being self-driven, communicative, fast thinking, structured and having the ability to work against deadlines in several different matters in parallel.
  • You have experience in working closely with the business and operational teams, and having a business mindset so you understand complex business structures and needs.
  • You have strong project management skills and your communication is clear and precise.
  • You have the integrity, experience and knowledge to drive your own cases, with the aim of delivering results with a combination of accuracy and speed.
  • You are proficient in drafting and negotiating agreements in the English language.
