About the role
- Prepare and file bankruptcy petitions (Chapters 7, 11, and 13).
- Draft legal documents including motions, pleadings, and proofs of claim.
- Review and interpret financial documents (tax returns, Schedule K-1s, bank statements).
- Communicate with debtors in Spanish to clarify financial and legal details.
- Maintain organized client files and ensure accurate data entry into bankruptcy software (Best Case).
- Upload documentation to trustee portals and monitor deadlines to avoid case dismissal or sanctions.
- Conduct legal research and assist attorneys in preparing for hearings.
- File documents electronically via CM/ECF systems and manage docketing.
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure compliance and case accuracy.
Requirements
- Litigation experience with U.S. law firms. (mandatory).
- Background in FLS/employment law (e.g., employer-related cases such as harassment claims, wage disputes, and labor litigation).
- At least 1–2 years of relevant legal experience.
- Strong drafting and research skills.
- Bilingual proficiency (English–Spanish).
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with high standards of accuracy.
