About the role

  • Independently own assigned sections of the monthly close process from start to finish.
  • Prepare and post accurate monthly journal entries, including payroll, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Fully own general ledger reconciliations, proactively investigating and resolving discrepancies without heavy oversight.
  • Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and ensure multi-state payroll tax compliance.
  • Identify root causes of variances and implement corrective actions to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Support the preparation of preliminary financial statements and ensure close deadlines are met.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation accurately in accordance with GAAP.
  • Process and review payroll, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and pay changes.
  • Collect, verify, and process payments to vendors, contractors, and affiliates.
  • Manage expense management tools and employee expense reimbursements.
  • Oversee employee corporate credit cards and ensure proper documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets using Excel and/or Google Sheets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience (agency or fast-paced environment preferred)
  • Exposure to budget vs. actual analysis and supporting forecast inputs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
  • Excel and/or Google Sheets proficiency
  • Quickbooks Online experience preferred
  • CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification
  • Experience with payroll systems, expense tools, or PEOs preferred
  • Familiarity with task management tools (Asana preferred)
  • Experience supporting audits or external accountants
