About the role

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of U.S. payroll operations and payroll tax-related tasks
  • Manage and process timely tax deposits and filings, adhering to deadlines and regulatory requirements
  • Resolve quarter-end variances and establish scalable operational frameworks and SOPs
  • Identify and implement improvements in tax operations, including corrections and amendments
  • Act as first line of contact for federal, state, and local tax notices; research and resolve agency notices
  • Investigate and resolve tax discrepancies and maintain communication with tax authorities
  • Collaborate with finance team to ensure timely payments and analyze P&L and balance sheet variances
  • Proactively address payroll tax inquiries and collaborate with internal teams, escalating issues as necessary
  • Lead Year-End process through auditing and balancing all reports to ensure filings are complete, correct, and timely
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and ensure accounts are in good standing
  • Collaborate with the US Payroll Team to develop and implement operational structure, workflows, and processes
  • Conduct quality checks on payroll tax configurations to ensure accuracy
  • Identify and drive improvements across all critical tax operations processes, including payroll corrections and amendments

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience of tax resolution (filing, remitting, balancing)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of US payroll processing experience
  • Experience using MasterTax software required
  • CPP or similar certification is required
  • Experience with state/entity registration required
  • Comfortable working with large datasets
  • Proven experience in payroll tax compliance and tax notice resolution
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
  • Experience working in enterprise payroll technology such as Workday, Deel, SAP, ADP, etc is highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and ability to understand payroll impact on financial statements
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, specifically Sheets, Documents, and Slides highly preferred
  • Ability to use mathematics to problem solve
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to approach problems, analyze solutions, and reach conclusions
  • Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment without loss of accuracy
