About the role
- Support Coding Supervisors in monitoring coders in quality and efficiency and serve as a resource and facilitator
- Review rebuttals submitted by coders and provide education or escalate when appropriate
- Answer coding questions for assigned coders and trend questions to identify training opportunities; collaborate with Client and Training Teams
- Track audits completed per coder to ensure timely feedback and assist with auditing when needed
- Support new hires as a coder-buddy
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with coders focused on quality improvement
- Assist in tracking coder KPI and quality metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Coach employees who are not meeting expectations and recommend performance improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with the Quality Department to ensure 95% accuracy expectation is met
- Report trends for education opportunities in both quality and productivity to management
- Assist in coding to meet the monthly production goals while maintaining quality at 95% or higher
- Perform any other tasks required by management
Requirements
- AHIMA certified credentials (CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC certified credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, CRC)
- Extensive knowledge of ICD -10
- 2 years' HCC coding experience
- 1+ years' Team Lead experience a plus
- A strong knowledge base of medical terminology, medical abbreviations, pharmacology and disease processes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high quality
- Must be able to follow instructions, meet deadlines and work independently
- Ability to be flexible in work environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a remote environment and time management skills
- Working knowledge of the business use of computer hardware and software to ensure effectiveness and quality of the processing and security of the data
- Post-offer health screenings and proof and/or completion of various vaccinations may be required
