About the role
- The Senior Revenue Accountant provides research, guidance and validation (review of work) on invoicing and revenue recognition for standard and complex customer contracts/agreements. This position will provide accounting support to major financial accounting areas, including general ledger accounting reconciliation of associated revenue accounts.
- You Will: Use technical expertise to determine proper revenue recognition of various types of contracts within the organization. Provide this information in a usable format to the Client Billing group.
- Works with Client Billing group to establish appropriate checks and balances in addition to invoicing in a manner that is professional, required by the customer and has the ability to recognize appropriately per GAAP.
- Establish and maintain appropriate documentation as back up for billing along with procedures for completing and recognizing revenue.
- Completes monthly General Ledger account reconciliations for revenue related accounts.
- Develop and maintain regular reports via the company’s accounting system.
- Considers sales tax impact when reviewing contracts and invoicing.
- Make necessary recommendations concerning changes in contracts that would facilitate better revenue recognition for the company (including working with Sales, Operations and Legal teams).
- Supports year-end and interim year end audits.
- You Will Bring to the Table: 5+years’ experience; NetSuite; ability to read contracts; knowledge of GAAP; Excel skills; degree in Accounting/Finance; etc.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in similar accounting role or progressive experience
- Prior experience with NetSuite, a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret complex contracts.
- Strong knowledge of billing and account reconciliations.
- Team player with focus on partnering to achieve results
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must deliver exceptional professional customer service every day with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of GAAP with a focus on revenue related pronouncements.
- Proven advanced Excel skills and exposure to automated accounting systems.
- Degree in Accounting/Finance.
