About the role
- Advance the visual craft while staying grounded in the established UX framework
- Polish and refine existing UI components to elevate clarity, visual cohesion, and consistency
- Design illustrations, icons, visual systems, and states for micro-interactions
- Collaborate with product designers to align visual updates with UX goals
- Contribute new visual patterns and refinements beyond current design system where appropriate
- Ensure visuals are accessible, scalable, and production-ready
- Partner with engineering to support implementation and maintain visual quality
- Align with broader design org on visual standards and contribute to best practices for visual design at Datadog
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience as a visual or UI designer
- Exceptional visual craft with strong attention to detail, layout, color, typography, and spacing
- Experience designing high-quality UI visuals for complex products
- Comfortable designing icons, illustrations, and motion/micro-interaction states
- Worked with or contributed to design systems and understanding of maintaining visual consistency at scale
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate visual direction clearly
- Knowledge of accessibility, visual hierarchy, and delivering polished, user-centered interfaces
- Self-directed, proactive, and able to work independently while collaborating deeply with others
- (Nice to have) Experience with visual design for analytics, monitoring, or data platforms
- (Nice to have) Experience in B2B environments prioritizing clarity and usability
- (Nice to have) Experience building and evolving design systems for scalability and consistency
