About the role
- Perform complex vendor payment reconciliations and provide explanations to outside parties
- Reconcile prepayments with independent contractors, process refunds, and apply payments to services rendered
- Assist with month-end close activities including balance sheet reconciliations and corrections
- Execute full cycle accounts payable: obtain approvals, record transactions, analyze expenses, process payments, and manage vendors
- Reconcile doctor-related A/P and issue payments based on terms; review unpaid bills, unapplied credits, and uncashed checks
- Manage AP email inquiries: current invoicing, payment research, discrepancies, and open invoices
- Cross-train and support intra-departmental functions (full cycle A/R and A/P tasks, credit card expenses, corporate payables, revenue-offsetting payables)
- Handle other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Accounting required
- 3-5 years of experience in a professional accounting position
- Staff/Senior Accountant or Senior Accountant experience required
- Experience with large ERP systems (NetSuite, Sage) preferred
- Healthcare and/or health insurance accounting background preferred
- Full cycle AP functions experience (approval, recording, expense analysis, payment processing, vendor management)
- Full cycle AR experience (billing, revenue upload, payment application/deposits, collections)
- Experience with doctor-related A/P reconciliation and payment issuance
- Ability to perform complex vendor payment reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy and typing skills
- Ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Ethical, positive, inquisitive attitude
- Knowledge of accounting theory and its application in a business setting
