Perform regular analysis of manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, to support management reporting and the development of standard costs and inventory valuation
Execute periodic standard cost updates in SAP, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
Monitor and analyze inventory variances, purchase price variances, and production variances, providing actionable insights to operations management
Work closely with Procurement to identify savings opportunities and aid in negotiations with vendors
Maintain cost center structure and develop labor and machine rates for production cost centers
Conduct month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation of manufacturing variances, margin analyses, and inventory reconciliations
Collaborate with operations, engineering and procurement teams to ensure accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routers, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
Participate in the preparation of annual operating budgets, including standard product cost development, volume analysis, and raw material pricing
Develop and maintain reporting by product line and profit center, including allocations and variance reports for management
Direct and monitor physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Ensure compliance with internal controls and internal policies, maintaining accurate documentation for audits
Support cross-functional teams in financial budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc reporting as needed
Liaise with external auditors and provide necessary documentation during annual audits
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited university
5-10 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Expert proficiency in SAP FI/CO modules, including Product Costing, Cost Center Accounting, and Profitability Analysis
Prior experience with SAP S/4HANA is a plus
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and analysis
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and their integration with manufacturing processes
CPA, CMA, or related certification preferred but not required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and cross-functional teams
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Team player with a commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles
Knowledge of manufacturing improvement principles such as 5S, Kaizen, or Lean Manufacturing is a plus
