About the role
- Implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
- Provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of ICT platforms and gateway infrastructure.
- Work closely with key third party suppliers to ensure robust gateway infrastructure capability.
- Liaise with architecture and shared services areas to ensure security of day-to-day technical operations.
- Design/evaluate/implement infrastructure requirements to meet future infrastructure demand.
- Provide expert technical support for project build, test and solution deployment activities.
- Prepare, review and maintain documentation which may include design documentation, implementation plans, test plans, and support procedures.
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategies, operational policy and procedures and change initiatives.
- Participate in change management process and communicate the end-to-end implications of configuration changes.
- Provide detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic advice to the senior executive.
- Proactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and aid and mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
- Undertake research on emerging technologies and provide recommendations on product suitability for the agency.
- Engage and partner with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability.
- Attend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share information.
- Encourage innovation, continuous improvement and manage and support change and influence and contribute to ICT strategy resolving conflicts as needed.
- Manage the operation of backup, high availability and disaster recovery solutions for IT systems.
- Manage the regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layers.
- Manage the administration and operation of the Gateway network kit.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1
- At least five (5) years demonstrated experience in the design, management and maintenance of internet gateway and/or large scale data centre networking environment.
- Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in the design of services utilising F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and deployment of network infrastructure including Cisco Data centre technologies like Cisco ACI, Cisco Routers, nexus switches, routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.
- Demonstrated experience with and/or detailed understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and IPS Solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of VPN technologies, email and DNS (Infoblox) Solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of hybrid and public cloud services.
- Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of system architecture and design documentation.
- Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight.
