About the role
- Provide internal and external technical leadership in defining, architecting, and driving implementation of space-qualified Computing and Electronics hardware solutions
- Architect scalable and adaptable space-qualified computing and electronics for payload and spacecraft bus systems
- Identify essential technologies and products to support mission payloads and spacecraft electronics
- Provide technical leadership for new business capture activities in coordination with executive leadership, Business Development / Sales teams, and product line leaders
- Communicate technology and product strengths and gaps to division leadership to enable strategic planning, R&D investment, and M&A pursuits
- Lead division-wide Space Community of Practice including process, technologies, requirements, and subject matter expertise
- Drive partnerships and internal initiatives including training and mentoring to grow division capabilities
- Develop relationships with key customers to understand problems and required solutions (50% of role)
- Coordinate with Business Development / Sales / Marketing to evangelize solutions and lead capture activities (20%)
- Coordinate with division leaders, technology leaders, and product leaders to report on solutions and required technologies (20%)
- Support application areas including payload computing, bus electronics and interfaces, onboard networking, storage, sensor interfaces and processing, telemetry interfaces, on-orbit and terrestrial data links, C&DH, GNC, PNT, autonomous operations, and AI/ML enhancements
Requirements
- 12 + Years of Related Experience
- Bachelor's Degree – Electrical, Computer, or Aerospace/Astronautical Engineering
- Strategic mindset and collaboration skills
- Leadership skills and experience
- Work in ad-hoc teams across division to lead specific technical pursuits
- Experience in aligning customer needs and company strategy
- Strong knowledge and experience in architecting spacecraft bus and payload computing and electronics system
- Experience in space environment mitigations and thermal management required
- Experience in highly challenging mission critical orbits and applications required
- Experience in non-civilian space applications in MEO, GEO, and other mission-specific unique orbital planes strongly desired
- 25% travel
- May require exposure to export-controlled information and subject to additional security screening
