Ensure accurate and complete recording of transactions within the general ledger (preparing, monitoring, and analyzing financial reports including income statements and balance sheets)
Track and evaluate expenses related to operations (production, labor, shipping, administration, inventory)
Establish benchmarks, compare actual costs, identify and explain variances, and prepare detailed cost structure reports with recommendations
Monitor production-related transactions (DMR transactions, cycle-count adjustments) and ensure accurate capture in internal reporting and the general ledger
Perform monthly standard cost roll
Prepare and post journal entries and assist with monthly financial statement preparation
Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly
Lead or participate in continuous improvement efforts, including quarterly profit margin analysis
Publish weekly financial reporting and assist with monthly statements and board package
Support audit requests, grant applications, tax filings, and third-party reporting (RechargeNY, Empire State Development)
Assist with R&D credit documentation and develop/maintain financial models (Machine Rates, Activity-Based Quoting)
Use historical data and cost analysis to help predict future costs and revenue to support budgeting and financial planning
Collect data for projects and analyses requested by Director of Finance, CFO, and other departments
Attend and contribute to financial meetings and discussions
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment
Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution industry preferred
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
