About the role

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll
  • Serve as primary administrator for Rippling HRIS platform, managing system configuration, maintenance, and optimization
  • Lead 401(k) plan administration including employee education, enrollment, contributions, distributions, and audit readiness
  • Develop, document, and optimize payroll processes and implement best practices
  • Provide exceptional support to employees regarding payroll inquiries
  • Ensure payroll data integration with HR, time-tracking, and benefits platforms to support financial reporting
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives to improve Finance and People Operations
  • Report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager; role will not manage direct reports

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll administration with ownership of 401(k) administration and payroll compliance in California or other complex jurisdictions
  • 2+ years of experience with Rippling or similar HRIS platforms
  • Proven experience staying current on regulatory updates for high-risk states like California, New York, and Illinois
  • Demonstrated ownership of 401(k) administration including employee education, enrollment, contributions, distributions, and audit readiness
  • Certification in payroll management (CPP or FPC) is a plus
  • Experience coordinating with external auditors on 401(k) plan audits and payroll-related audits
  • Experience working in a high-growth company environment
  • Ability to develop, document, and optimize payroll processes across multiple pay cycles
  • Strong experience with HRIS systems, preferably Rippling
  • Meticulous attention to detail with minimal to zero manual corrections
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated discretion in handling sensitive employee information
