About the role
- Own end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll
- Serve as primary administrator for Rippling HRIS platform, managing system configuration, maintenance, and optimization
- Lead 401(k) plan administration including employee education, enrollment, contributions, distributions, and audit readiness
- Develop, document, and optimize payroll processes and implement best practices
- Provide exceptional support to employees regarding payroll inquiries
- Ensure payroll data integration with HR, time-tracking, and benefits platforms to support financial reporting
- Contribute to strategic initiatives to improve Finance and People Operations
- Report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager; role will not manage direct reports
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in payroll administration with ownership of 401(k) administration and payroll compliance in California or other complex jurisdictions
- 2+ years of experience with Rippling or similar HRIS platforms
- Proven experience staying current on regulatory updates for high-risk states like California, New York, and Illinois
- Demonstrated ownership of 401(k) administration including employee education, enrollment, contributions, distributions, and audit readiness
- Certification in payroll management (CPP or FPC) is a plus
- Experience coordinating with external auditors on 401(k) plan audits and payroll-related audits
- Experience working in a high-growth company environment
- Ability to develop, document, and optimize payroll processes across multiple pay cycles
- Strong experience with HRIS systems, preferably Rippling
- Meticulous attention to detail with minimal to zero manual corrections
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated discretion in handling sensitive employee information
