About the role

  • Contract Role - (Hybrid) will be required to travel to client site and must hold valid UK Security Clearance.
  • Role – 3-6 Month Contract
  • Reports to: Head of Modern Work & Security
  • The consultant will be responsible for the design, setup, and initial build of a SharePoint Server Subscription Edition and Project Server Subscription Edition (PSSE) environments to support customer organisation’s migration away from Microsoft Project Online.
  • The role will focus on:
  • - Technical architecture design and environment implementation
  • - Supporting customer conversations and potentially implementation for related infrastructure requirements, such as Power BI Gateway, Power Automate Data Gateway.
  • - Core Project Server and PWA configuration aligned to agreed business requirements
  • The consultant will work closely with internal IT, security, and PMO stakeholders and will be expected to produce robust technical documentation to support long-term operational ownership.
  • Architecture Design:
  • · Design a PSSE target architecture, aligned to:
  • · Organisational security and compliance standards
  • · Performance and availability requirements
  • · Expected user volumes and workload
  • Define:
  • · SharePoint Server Subscription Edition farm topology
  • · Project Server service architecture
  • · SQL Server architecture (including HA/DR considerations)
  • · Produce a documented architecture design for approval.
  • · Support conversations around virtualisation of infrastructure within the customer environment, including virtual servers and Azure SQL
  • Support or lead installation and configuration of:
  • · SharePoint Server Subscription Edition
  • · Project Server Subscription Edition
  • · Required service applications
  • · Environment rollover post-migrations
  • Configure:
  • · Authentication (Active Directory / hybrid identity as applicable)
  • · Service accounts and permissions
  • · SSL and certificate management
  • Validate environment readiness for PWA deployment.
  • Define:
  • · Backup and restore strategy
  • · Patch and update approach
  • · Monitoring and operational considerations
  • Produce:
  • · Environment build documentation
  • · Admin and operational handover artefacts
  • Provide technical assurance and recommendations ahead of Build/Config phase.
  • At a minimum, the consultant will provide:
  • - Approved PSSE architecture design document
  • - Fully deployed and operational PSSE environment
  • - Technical build and configuration documentation
  • · Operational and support handover pack
  • Create and configure one or more PWA instances
  • Rebuild core Project Server configuration including:
  • Advising on functional differences between Project Online and PSSE and propose pragmatic alternatives where required.
  • Configure reporting endpoints (OData, SQL, Excel/Power BI connectivity)

Requirements

  • Proven delivery of SharePoint Server 2016/19 and or Subscription Edition
  • Strong SharePoint Server architecture and administration experience
  • Strong SQL Server / Azure Managed SQL knowledge in an enterprise environment
  • Hands‑on PowerShell experience for SharePoint Server administration
  • Delivery of Power BI Gateway, Power Automate Data Gateway.
  • Proven delivery of Project Server Subscription Edition or Project Server 2016/2019/Subscription Edition implementations
  • Experience migrating or re‑platforming from Project Online or similar SaaS PPM tools
  • Experience working with PMOs and portfolio management teams
  • Understanding of PPM governance and operating models
  • Experience delivering in regulated or compliance sensitive environments
  • Ability to advise on reporting and Power BI integration (e.g. Azure Data Factory)
