About the role
- Provide essential financial and administrative support to college and department operations.
- Ensure the accuracy, compliance, and effectiveness of financial processes.
- Serve as a key resource for hourly student appointments.
- Interpret university and college financial policies.
- Manage account activity, and oversee a range of transactional functions including reconciliations, account setup and closure, and procurement card administration.
- Monitor operating accounts, manage ELI awards, and collaborate with the Shared Services Center (SSC) to resolve financial issues.
- Provide guidance to college and departmental staff, promoting best practices and ensuring the integrity of financial operations.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree and 2 to 4 years relevant work experience or equivalent combination.
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a team, and to be resourceful and organized.
- Capable of prioritizing tasks in a deadline-driven environment with particular attention to accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community.
- Familiarity with Cornell University administration, accounting, budget structure, procedures, and policies is a bonus.
- Successful completion of Cornell Accounting Certification Program desirable, or completion within the first year on the job.
- Excellent communication skills combined with diplomacy and tact in interacting with students, and towards building strong relationships with individuals at all levels internally and externally.
- Ability to thrive in a complex environment while managing multiple competing priorities.
