About the role
- Works in conjunction with the Manager, Operations Control Room to provide leadership for real time system operating personnel.
- Provides oversight of the day-to-day operations as well as to mentor and develop staff.
- Ensures compliance with company, regulatory, regional transmission organization and industry standards and policies.
- Acts as primary operations supervisory contact for outside entities related to any operational or reliability issues.
- Provides direct supervision to Transmission System Coordinators (TSC 1&2) and System Reliability Controllers (SRC 1&2).
- Provides input to the operations training department to assist in the development of training material that assists OCR staff in maintaining an adequate knowledge base and skill set.
- Ensures OCR procedures are kept up to date by administering the OCR procedure program.
- Provides subject matter expert support to the compliance department to ensure all compliance requirements related to OCR operation are met.
- Develops daily summary report of previous day and current day planned operation and present report at morning operations staff meeting.
- Assists the Shutdown Coordination group in coordination of transmission equipment outages.
- Performs duties of the Operations Control Room Manager in their absence.
- Keeps Operations Control Room Manager apprised of any abnormal conditions or issues.
- Performs after action reviews for events, gathering facts from all available sources.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or energy or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in real time operations, preferably in a transmission control room environment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred.
- North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) certification at the Reliability Coordinator level required.
- Must be able to effectively manage teams and people.
- Must possess good analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide leadership in emergency situations.
- Must have effective verbal and written communications skills.
