About the role
- Oversee the Bank’s Database Management System (DBMS) ensuring integrity, availability, security, and performance of databases.
- Design, implement, and maintain databases across development, testing, training, and production environments.
- Focus on SQL Server configuration and optimization; evaluate SQL Server releases and recommend improvements.
- Lead database architecture and capacity planning.
- Enforce security protocols and encryption in alignment with Bank policies.
- Monitor system health, performance, and availability, including clustering, mirroring, and failover strategies.
- Troubleshoot and maintain SQL servers and network-related database issues.
- Support disaster recovery planning and backup strategies.
- Document the database environment and enforce data integrity constraints.
- Collaborate with network support and business lines for application upgrades, user access, and impact analysis.
- Perform duties of Application Administrator for critical systems and support audit and user access review processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field of study.
- Seven (7) years of experience in Financial Database Management.
- Experience in database administration, including installation, configuration, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Microsoft Server Environment Administration, Office 365, Server hardware, Windows Server 2019/2022/2025.
- Advanced knowledge of database structure and theory.
- Experience with MSSQL.
- Combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance.
- Basic understanding of disaster recovery and database backup procedures.
- Familiarity with reporting tools.
- Must be highly analytical, able to perform problem resolution, monitoring and documenting of network components.
- Ability to meet deadlines and user demands.
- Strong technical leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience in Financial Industry; Patch Management processes; Powershell; Prior Network or Help Desk experience.
- Preferred: Microsoft SQL Database Administration certification or related training.
