About the role
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion in performing substantive legal work as a licensed attorney.
- Maintain positive client relationships and ensure strict confidentiality in all client matters.
- Supervise or manage other attorneys and paralegals within the department.
- Maintain expertise in assigned subject matter areas and advise on legal developments.
- Ensure timely responses to requests for legal advice.
- Identify and seek to implement measures to improve legal services within the organization.
- Cooperate effectively and take leadership roles as requested on projects and teams.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from ABA accredited law school
- Five or more years of experience as a practicing attorney, including at least two years specifically in the area of practice
- Strong understanding of the operation of a regulated industry
- Member in good standing of the state bar or ability to become a member of the state bar within a reasonable period of time
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion to perform legal services
- Experience with Florida medical malpractice defense, coordination of benefits, pharmacy benefits, subrogation, patient and payer disputes and Medicare/ALJ proceedings
- Healthcare experience
