About the role
- Serve as the primary technical partner for top accounts, ensuring smooth onboarding, integration, and adoption.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges with a focus on long-term solutions for strategic customers.
- Act as a trusted advisor: share best practices, recommend features, and guide customers toward maximizing Clerk’s value.
- Track account health metrics, anticipate risks, and proactively address issues before they become blockers.
- Represent the voice of the customer internally, shaping product roadmap and go-to-market motion.
- Define and evolve Clerk’s Technical Account Management function — from processes to tooling to metrics — as the founding team member.
- Partner with customers from onboarding through scaling, combining technical expertise with a users-first mindset.
Requirements
- Background working in a customer-facing technical role (TAM, solutions engineer, success engineer, or similar).
- Experience with languages/frameworks commonly used with Clerk: Next.js, React, JavaScript, Node.js, Go, and shadcn.
- Comfortable engaging both technical (developers, architects) and business (PMs, execs) stakeholders.
- Ability to debug technical workflows, read APIs/SDKs, and guide enterprise customers through implementation decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication: clear, empathetic, and authoritative across email, Slack, and live calls.
- Balance technical problem-solving with a forward-looking focus on customer outcomes and account health.
- Thrive in a cross-functional, collaborative environment.
- Bonus: Experience in developer tools, authentication/identity, or supporting enterprise SaaS customers at scale.
