About the role
- Act as the program's technical expert for building science and energy-efficiency programs
- Conduct on-site Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) verifications and post-work inspections of contractor-installed measures
- Verify Trade Ally adherence to program, Department of Energy, and state standards
- Provide guidance, deliver trade ally training, and develop technical training materials for internal and external participants
- Use building rating and energy modeling tools to evaluate projects and provide building science adjustments
- Ensure program designs reflect program installation guidelines and review documents for technical accuracy
- Assist in developing protocols and QA/QC procedures for field inspections, specifications interpretation, and installation documentation
- Evaluate and understand project risks; document observations regarding project scope, planning and effectiveness of products and services
- Serve as on-site representative and technical spokesperson to customers and contractors
- Extensive travel within a defined territory in a company-provided vehicle; attend required program meetings and trainings
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience (eg. HVAC, electrical, residential construction, building maintenance, general contracting, etc.)
- BPI Building Analyst Professional (BA-P) certification or ability to obtain a BA-P certification within the first 60 days of employment
- Excellent communication, organizational, mathematical, and documentation skills; meticulous attention to detail
- High school diploma
- Valid driver's license
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Salesforce experience preferred
- Knowledge with Energy Star, AHRI, and NREL Standard Work Specifications a plus
- Ability to adapt to an ever changing work environment
- Time and schedule management skills is a MUST
- Must live in or within a reasonable commuting distance of northern Michigan (Upper Peninsula) or Bay City, MI area
- Must successfully pass post-offer pre-employment drug test and motor vehicle report showing satisfactory driving record
