About the role
- The Housing Consultant is a key role supporting the City’s HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan.
- This position will lead strategic initiatives and oversee high impact, tenant focused programs that promote housing stability.
- Reporting to the Manager and working within a collaborative management team, the Housing Consultant provides leadership across staff teams, program operations, and strategic initiatives.
- The role is responsible for advancing program objectives, driving continuous improvement, and fostering strong partnerships with community organizations and other stakeholders.
- The Housing Consultant advances the development of processes, policies, and systems that support data collection and results-based accountability within the Tenant Access & Support section.
- This includes monitoring and evaluating program outcomes, adapting priorities in response to emerging trends and system-level data, and ensuring alignment with Divisional and City-wide objectives.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a discipline relevant to the position or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable project management experience with ability to manage complex projects, in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
- Considerable experience in the administration and delivery of housing, homelessness prevention and grants to non-profits or similar programs within a legislative (or similar) accountability framework.
- Experience in stakeholder relations with a high level of ability to influence and negotiate outcomes effectively.
- Experience supervising, coordinating, and motivating staff, conducting performance appraisals, and managing labour relations matters.
- Experience working with and interpreting financial and non-financial data, with ability to use the data to assess program-related outcomes against established performance measures.
- Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to take initiative and problem solve.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize information into clear and concise messages and prepare and deliver presentations, coupled with political acuity.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy, tact, and political acuity.
- Ability to work effectively with electronic spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software.
- Familiarity with relevant employment legislation including Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
