About the role
- Ensure environmental compliance across the project during construction of the Trillium Line and Confederation Line extensions.
- Oversee all environmental aspects of construction activities.
- Review proponents' environmental management plans, policies and procedures and monitor their implementation and compliance in the field.
- Participate in planning inspections and audits, set priorities and manage risks.
- Conduct site visits and prepare field reports, contract correspondence, reports and presentations.
Requirements
- University degree (four-year) in a pure or applied environmental science discipline (e.g., environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field).
- At least 5 years of experience directly related to environmental assessment and environmental management in the construction sector.
- At least 2 of those 5 years must include experience in supervision and project management.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) without restrictions and with no more than 6 demerit points.
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification from Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) preferred.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) OR Registered Architect with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) preferred.
- Canadian Certified Inspector for Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN‑CISEC) designation preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant environmental laws, standards, guidelines and operating procedures, including worker rights and obligations.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of various work procedures and environmental best practices related to construction.
- Proficiency in work-related software, including MS Office suite, SAP and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, including worker rights and obligations.
