About the role

  • Ensure environmental compliance across the project during construction of the Trillium Line and Confederation Line extensions.
  • Oversee all environmental aspects of construction activities.
  • Review proponents' environmental management plans, policies and procedures and monitor their implementation and compliance in the field.
  • Participate in planning inspections and audits, set priorities and manage risks.
  • Conduct site visits and prepare field reports, contract correspondence, reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • University degree (four-year) in a pure or applied environmental science discipline (e.g., environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field).
  • At least 5 years of experience directly related to environmental assessment and environmental management in the construction sector.
  • At least 2 of those 5 years must include experience in supervision and project management.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) without restrictions and with no more than 6 demerit points.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification from Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) OR Registered Architect with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) preferred.
  • Canadian Certified Inspector for Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN‑CISEC) designation preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant environmental laws, standards, guidelines and operating procedures, including worker rights and obligations.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of various work procedures and environmental best practices related to construction.
  • Proficiency in work-related software, including MS Office suite, SAP and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, including worker rights and obligations.
