About the role

  • Managing the operation and maintenance of the City of Ottawa’s water distribution system
  • Serving as the unit’s engineering specialist
  • Providing project management, oversight and design engineering support for various projects and contracts
  • Maintaining, reviewing and providing documentation, training and technical support for water distribution staff
  • Preparing reports and documents to meet Branch requirements
  • Supervising staff and managing assigned projects

Requirements

  • Completion of 4 year university degree in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Civil or Mechanical) or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience in a public works or utility environment with progressive practical experience in water distribution system operation and maintenance, technical support, or water system design
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Must obtain and maintain Ontario MOE Class 3 Drinking Water Distribution Operator Certificate within the timeframe determined by the employer
