About the role
- Define and execute technology strategy for the credit risk rules engine aligned with risk management and business growth
- Lead development and delivery of complex credit risk technology changes, integrating decisioning rules and policies into credit decisioning and underwriting platforms
- Oversee design, development, testing, and deployment of enhancements to the credit risk rules engine and ensure seamless integration with consumer credit platforms
- Implement governance framework to manage changes and ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulatory standards (OCC, CFPB, Fed)
- Create risk control measures within the rules engine and ensure technology changes are tested and validated prior to deployment
- Lead modernization efforts including incorporation of AI/ML to optimize decision-making and improve predictive capabilities
- Build and lead a high-performing team of risk technology professionals; provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across credit risk, IT, product, and compliance; engage external vendors and regulatory bodies
- Present technology delivery progress and risk insights to executive leadership and board members
- Establish performance metrics for credit risk technology changes, provide regular reporting, and manage financial impact and budgets
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or related field (required)
- Certifications in credit risk, technology management, or systems development (a plus)
- 15+ years of experience in credit risk technology or financial services, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing large-scale technology delivery or system development
- 5+ years of experience managing high performance teams in an agile development environment
- Proven track record of delivering complex technology projects on time and within budget in regulated environments
- 7+ years of FICO Blaze/DMP Risk Decision Engine experience (required)
- 7+ years of SAS and/or SQL Decision Engine and Analytics experience (required)
- PEGA Customer Decision Hub experience (a plus)
- Deep knowledge of credit risk management principles, decisioning models, and operationalization of risk strategies through technology
- Significant experience with rules engine technologies, decisioning platforms, and risk management tools used in consumer credit decisioning
- Experience leading technology transformation initiatives, including adoption of AI/ML or advanced automation
- Strong understanding of regulatory landscape (OCC, CFPB, Fed) and implementing compliant solutions
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong financial management skills, ability to manage large technology budgets
