About the role
- Provide accurate and complete interpretation services to facilitate oral communication between Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients, families and CM staff
- Support patient safety and ensure that LEP individuals have meaningful access to information
- Model exemplary customer service through delivery of interpretation services consistent with department and organization values
- Perform other duties and participate in projects or committees that support hospital and departmental priorities or activities
Requirements
- HS diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Pediatric Medical Interpreter Training Program at Children's Mercy
- National Certification preferred
- Spanish-speaking (Medical Interpreter - Spanish Speaking)
- Willingness to receive seasonal influenza vaccine as a condition of employment
- Willingness to be vaccinated if non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of Tdap vaccination since 2005
- Must supply immunization records if selected
- Criminal background investigation required
- Drug screen upon hire
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with employees, patients, parents and visitors
- Work hours 9:30am-6pm (Full Time)
