About the role
- Lead Celestica’s global intellectual property strategy and management of patents
- Partner closely with engineering, IP management and executive teams to protect and optimize the company’s innovation assets
- Create and implement IP strategies aligned to Celestica product roadmaps and corporate objectives
- Perform invention mining and harvesting across hardware and software global engineering teams
- Work with internal teams and external counsel to draft, file and prosecute domestic and foreign patent applications
- Oversee investigation and responses to third party IP assertions and manage pre-litigation strategy
Requirements
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant IP experience with significant focus on U.S. patent preparation and prosecution
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in electrical engineering, systems design, computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field
- Licensed patent attorney and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
- Demonstrated success building and managing a high-quality patent portfolio in complex technical domains
- Strong track record handling freedom-to-operate assessments, non-infringement/invalidity analyses, and IP disputes
- Experience with open source compliance programs and standards participation
- Excellent oral and written skills.
