About the role
- Lead the company’s overall carbon strategy and manage the carbon credit team, including credit generation and sales staff.
- Oversee the development, verification, and monetization of carbon credits through recognized registries and standards.
- Build and manage partnerships with carbon credit buyers, brokers, and corporate climate programs.
- Monitor emerging carbon market trends, regulations, and standards to guide strategy and maintain leadership in voluntary and compliance markets.
- Identify new opportunities to create business value and impact through decarbonization initiatives integrated with our existing and new products.
- Monitor and report on relevant climate coalitions, partnerships and unique funding opportunities relevant to carbon utilization, construction materials, and industrial decarbonization.
- Regularly consult with carbon credit buyers, carbon market stakeholders and industry partners to ensure customer success and meet market needs.
- Represent the company as a spokesperson in public forums, conferences and panels on topics such as carbon markets, carbon utilization, climate tech and industrial decarbonization.
- Engage with advocacy organizations and coalitions to shape shared agendas that support the company’s mission and business objectives.
- Develop and sustain relationships with key decision-makers, NGOs, and institutions in the climate ecosystem and construction sector.
- Promote the company’s thought leadership in climate technology through communication activities such as statements, news releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, blog posts and social media content.
Requirements
- Degree in Business, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in climate strategy or carbon markets, ideally within construction materials, climate tech or industrial sectors.
- Proven track record in leading, developing and/or executing carbon market or carbon credit programs.
- Strong sales leader, with proven experience designing and executing sales and partnership strategies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high-impact proposals, negotiating contractual agreements, and representing organizations publicly.
- Ability to build and manage relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, including corporate executives, industry leaders, customers and advocacy organizations.
- Strong understanding of carbon accounting, life cycle assessment (LCA), leading climate project verification bodies and environmental product declarations (EPDs).
- Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, as well as execute planned strategies while reacting to new developments.
- Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally, as needed
