About the role
- Content strategy development: Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to develop content that aligns with the goals and objectives of our clients.
- Conduct content audits and competitor analysis to understand industry best practices and identify opportunities for improvement
- User-centered content creation: Write user-centred content that addresses the needs, questions, and concerns of pension holders and administrators at various stages of their journey.
- Craft clear content and actionable messaging for letters, emails, websites, microcopy and instructional materials that can be used across a variety of digital and print channels
- Clarity and accessibility: Ensure that content is written in plain language and adheres to accessibility standards to accommodate users with diverse literacy levels and abilities.
- Simplify complex pension-related terminology and concepts into easily understandable language, providing explanations and context where necessary
- Consistency and tone of voice: Maintain consistency in tone of voice and writing style across all touchpoints of the user journey, reflecting the brand identity and values.
- Able to help develop a tone of voice, and switch between different styles for different clients
- Collaboration and iteration: Collaborate closely with UX designers, developers, and stakeholders to integrate content seamlessly into the user interface and user experience.
- Iterate content based on user feedback, usability testing results, and stakeholder input, refining messaging and language to improve clarity and effectiveness
- Documentation and guidelines: Document content guidelines, style guides, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all content assets.
- Provide guidance and support to other team members on content-related matters, including content governance, improvement, and consistency
- Compliance and legal requirements: Ensure that content complies with regulatory requirements and legal obligations related to pensions, financial services, data privacy, and consumer protection.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to review and approve content for accuracy and compliance with industry regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a copywriter, UX writer, content designer, or similar role.
- Experience working in, or writing about, pensions, financial services, or other regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of user‑centred design and how words shape user experiences.
- Excellent grasp of plain English, accessibility and ability to simplify complex topics for a range of audiences.
- Working knowledge of GDS standards, including writing for GOV.UK and related patterns.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Confident communicator able to offer guidance and constructive critique.
