About the role
- The Business Operations Specialist supports accounting, HR, legal, and general administrative operations for Canon Software America, Inc. CSAI.
- This position is intended for a current Japan expatriate returning to headquarters next year.
- Frequent communication in Japanese; native-level proficiency required in Japanese and English.
- The start of operations is around 10/1; hybrid work schedule in Melville, NY; in-office Mon-Wed with remote rest of week.
- Responsibilities include monthly/quarterly/annual closings, billing, budgeting, reports, internal control, tax, audits.
- HR responsibilities include expatriate onboarding/offboarding, compensation/benefits, visa matters; HR policies; handbook; time & leave; collaborate with Canon U.S.A.; hire local employees; vendor coordination.
- Legal/Contract support: contract review; shareholder materials; risk management.
- Meetings with Japanese HQ outside business hours several times a quarter.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on accounting experience
- Native-level proficiency in both Japanese and English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently and proactively
- Experience in HR or general affairs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and QuickBooks
- Experience in Japanese-affiliated companies or familiarity with Japanese corporate culture
