Customer Support

• Supervise the School Based Support Specialists and provide direct clinical care with a caseload or through intake and annual assessments.
• Hold regularly scheduled individual supervisory sessions and team meetings with supervisees.
• Accompany School Based Specialists to see clients at their school on a periodic basis to assure worker safety and quality performance.
• Assist supervisees in the effective management of their time, as dictated by DMH standards and departmental needs.
• Participate in staffing of clients to identify problems and establish goals and objectives for treatment and assumes management responsibilities for cases assigned.
• Participate in the quality assurance process both in presenting or facilitating the presenting of cases and situations and in giving input in cases and situations.
• Participate in the development of initial/master treatment plans (ITPs), ITP (annual) updates and 90-day reviews of ITP’s as needed.
• Be readily available to serve as back up to supervisees when supervisees are unavailable (due to being with other clients, sickness, vacation, etc.) or in need of additional expertise.
• Become involved in direct crisis intervention during regular business hours and as needed on a call down basis after hours or on weekends.
• Regularly review and monitor written documentation, providing corrective feedback and employee discipline as needed, to assure compliance with documentation requirements.

Supervisor, School Based Support Specialist

General

• Provide compassionate nursing care and support to individuals receiving behavioral health and substance use disorder services
• Assess clients' physical and emotional health needs and contribute to individualized treatment planning

• Provide individual counseling : Conduct one-on-one sessions to address clients' mental health needs and personal goals, using therapeutic techniques to improve well-being.

• Actively monitor assigned patients, attend to immediate needs, assist with daily living tasks, de-escalate volatile situations, enforce safety protocols, prevent self-harm attempts, and promptly notify nursing personnel or physicians of any observed changes in condition.
• Plan, lead, and evaluate recreation-oriented, leisure, and occupational therapy sessions designed to foster skill acquisition, symptom reduction, cognitive restructuring, problem-solving capabilities, stress tolerance, and relaxation techniques.
• Maintain orderly, clean, and organized living spaces, common areas, and patient rooms while promoting prosocial behaviors, encouraging peer interaction, and reinforcing positive reinforcements consistent with individualized treatment goals.
• Accurately chart observations, interventions, encounters, and incident reports utilizing electronic health records or paper documentation methods according to facility policies and procedures, ensuring timely submission for review by supervisors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Work alongside psychiatrists, registered nurses, social workers, psychotherapists, and other mental health professionals to optimize holistic care delivery models, share insights gleaned from frontline engagements, and participate in regular meetings discussing patient status updates, goal modifications, and discharge planning considerations.
• Carry out assigned aspects of individualized treatment plans developed by licensed practitioners, incorporating pharmacological regimens, psychosocial rehabilitation modalities, milieu-based interventions, and adjunctive therapies into everyday routines and schedules.
• Teach basic psychiatric concepts, symptoms recognition, early warning signs, triggers identification, relapse prevention strategies, coping mechanisms, and self-management techniques to instill hope, autonomy, and self-efficacy.
• Help prepare patients transitioning back into independent living arrangements or alternative placements by arranging follow-up appointments, linkage to community-based resources, and ongoing support services, thus minimizing avoidable readmissions and ensuring continuity of care.
• Prioritize personal wellbeing through mindfulness practices, exercise routines, stress-reduction techniques, debriefings after challenging shifts, and nurturing a stable work-life balance to sustain empathic engagement, vigilant observation, and solid decision-making capacities in often demanding contexts.
