About the role

  • Provide strategic leadership for safeguarding, integrity, welfare and culture at British Rowing.
  • Lead the development and delivery of robust safeguarding and integrity frameworks.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, Executive Team and Board.
  • Hold strategic responsibility for safeguarding across British Rowing.
  • Oversee the management of safeguarding concerns and complex cases.
  • Ensure compliance with national safeguarding standards.
  • Lead training and education programmes to build safeguarding capability.

Requirements

  • Significant senior-level experience in safeguarding within sport or a comparable regulated environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and best practice.
  • Proven experience leading complex safeguarding or integrity cases.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide authoritative advice.
  • Strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Excellent judgement, resilience and ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism.
  • Outstanding communication, relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Relevant safeguarding or child protection qualification(s).
