Senior Vice President of Business Development (SVPBD) develops and leads the business development vision, strategy, plans, and processes that will drive Orders, Books-to-Bill Ratio, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives.
The SVPBD will report to the CEO and drive the formation and execution of the Business Development organization, including the bid and proposal process and other aspects of business development necessary to facilitate the growth and diversification of BGS.
Identify and evaluate new markets, partners, channels, and customers; research and analyze the business environment, competitors, and customers to develop ideas for new products and services, pricing, and business models.
Direct financial feasibility studies, development of proposals, and negotiations for new business opportunities.
Collaborate with Marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development plans.
Manage business unit, division, or corporate function with significant organizational impact; establish overall direction and strategic initiatives for the given primary function or line of business.
Day-to-day management of the Enterprise Business Development function and support personnel; personnel management, hiring, and leadership of the organization to prioritize and achieve the business's growth objectives.
Develop and manage the BD pipeline; periodically review the pipeline with executive leadership to ensure capture plans are in progress for long lead items, form strategic alliances, and take other actions to ensure success.
Provide support for capture planning and lead the proposal efforts for the company.
Work closely with the CSO to continue refining and implementing a sound acquisition and development plan for the Company, including specific development strategies designed to achieve short—and long-term growth and profit objectives.
Drive deal sourcing, due diligence processes, negotiation, and execution of strategic transactions, as well as integration and post-deal management of acquisition activities.
Actively manage a pipeline of potential acquisition opportunities and coordinate and drive accurate financial analysis of acquisition targets and purchase price valuation.
Develop trusted relationships, foster and maintain a strong network, and support the CSO with the financial performance of acquisition targets to prepare financial documents, models, metrics reports, and synergies assessments.
Develop business cases for various opportunities, including deal-specific financial analysis (accounting for strategic, financial, legal, and tax implications).
Provide analysis of trends and valuations for the market; research and prepare interest profiles.
Work collaboratively with all departments to execute strategic goals and establish highly effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
Requirements
Minimum BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university.
20+ years of proven relevant business experience.
Experience and ability in all phases of government and commercial proposal development and production.
Must balance multiple projects and be flexible with schedule to meet deadlines.
Creative thinker who can develop and explain value propositions for potential targets.
Strong process and analytical skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrate initiative, has a strong desire to succeed and is willing to exert the extraordinary efforts that will be required.
High competency in managing internal and external resources and projects to achieve goals with attention to detail and commitment to timing.
